A workshop with Dave Hughes and Rick Hafele - Authors of Western Hatches and Western Mayfly Hatches

Join Dave Hughes and Rick Hafele in Cle Elum for a workshop on MATCHING WESTERN HATCHES followed by a book signing and open house with food and drink from 6 to 9 PM.

Western HatchesRick’s slide show covers identification of aquatic insects most important to Western fly fishers, plus their preferred habitat and their behavior. You’ll learn how to recognize the insects that trout are feeding on, learn where to fish their imitations, and learn the best presentations to take trout.

Western Mayfly HatchesDave’s slide show covers fly pattern selection for each stage of the hatches covered by Rick:  nymphs, larvae, pupae, emergers, duns, adults, and spinners. You’ll learn to recognize which stage is critical to match at the moment, then the right way to rig and fish the imitation to fool fish.

Insects and crustaceans covered include mayflies, stoneflies, caddisflies, midges, damselflies and dragonflies, water boatmen and back swimmers, scuds, and important terrestrials.

A question-and-answer session assures you’ll get to hear about problems that have been bugging you in your own fishing. This workshop is suitable for you if you’re interested in improving your fishing in situations where trout feed selectively, would like to increase your catch, and have more fun doing it, whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or even expert angler.

Don't miss this opportunity to spend a day with two true experts in the field of fly fishing for trout, a chance that comes rarely, and one that you're not likely to get again. Guaranteed to be both informative and fun.

Rick Hafele, in addition to authoring the best-selling Nymph Fishing Rivers & Streams, is well-know for his Nymph Fishing Basics, Nymph Fishing Large Rivers and Advanced Nymph Fishing DVDs.

Dave Hughes is best known for his 20-plus books on trout fishing, including Nymph Fishing, Trout Flies, American Fly Tying Manual, and Western Streamside Guide.

Rick and Dave together are co-authors of the classic Western Hatches and Western Mayfly Hatches.

The cost is $60 and space is limited. Lunch is included. Please contact the fly shop to reserve your seat for this great program.
